This year‘s highly-ranked iF Design Award went to German skincare brand Gezeiten and packaging manufacturer Corpack. The annual award honors outstanding design, and is “one of the most important design prizes in the world.” There were nearly 11,000 submissions from 56 countries.
 
The international jury of experts awarded the zero-waste packaging solution “Skincare for the New Age” for its “excellent design and execution.” An independent jury of experts applauded the refillable cosmetic jar for its innovative aesthetics, “which reflect Gezeiten‘s aspirations and passion for a perfect product and a perfect brand experience.”
 
The implementation and development of the packaging to “a technically feasible and production-ready state” was constructed and overseen by Corpack together with the client Gezeiten.

Zero-Waste Packaging Solution

The aim was to ensure a high-quality implementation of the existing design concept. This meant developing a refill system for the jar without changing the external shape. The packaging solves the sustainability challenge by reducing the environmental impact using recyclable materials, with a refill-system and a second-use concept. To emphasize the exclusivity of the design, the finishing of the components played an important role.
